Christmas Day

Two young, strong and great women were diagnosed with cancer this Fall.
We were lucky enough this year to be able to help in a time of need.....

Our football team coaching staff  put together over $600.00 for one of our own.
Casey is one of our coaches and his wife is one of the above mentioned women.
She has brain cancer for the second time if five years.
She has two young boys.....

Our head coach is a great man, he is always thinks of others in need.
His wife along with him spent the last few months checking on them and trying to help whenever needed.
Knowing things were becoming difficult, they got us together and we took them food, clothing, and toiletry's that should last for a few months.

She has surgery later in January to remove the effected area's of her brain and then at a later date will receive other treatments should she pull through the surgery.

Her oldest boy played football with us this year.
All he wanted for Christmas was a video camera........
So that he could video tape them playing and having fun, to help her remember them when she came out of surgery. (Her first surgery went wrong and she was unable to remember anything for quite some time.)
So for her oldest....I can only imagine the worry in his mind, that his Mom will forget him again.

It felt great to help them ease their burdens if only for one night.
After opening their gifts we took them all out to Burger King for dinner!!!

The other amazing woman, has stage four breast cancer.
I don't know her well but,  I went to school with her husband and we were pretty good friends all through high school. Having only heard about her during the ski season the winter prior to their wedding
I then met her at their wedding and then again this summer during football as the opposing team.

She has two boys and an adorable little girl......

She had a double mastectomy before they realize it had spread and become much worse.
I has made it to her brain, liver, and lungs.
The doctors gave her five years to live.......
She, being the amazing woman she is, says she will beat it....She will live through this!
She has had such an amazing support system.

Please keep them both in your thought!

Scott only remaining Grandparents have also been diagnosed with caner.
Grandma has finished with her cemo and radiation.
She is doing well and feeling better everyday!

Grandpa has a cancer similar to Leukemia, that infects the bone and blood.
Good new is, they expect him to die from his COPD before the cancer.
With the test results, he has probably had it for a very long time.
The meds they had him on made his sick and very sore.
They did nothing to prolong his life, only strengthen the bone......he chose to be taken off of them.

His is such a spunky man! We adore him!
He feels pretty good most of the time.....
He still enjoys teasing everyone!

On a lighter note the kids had a great Christmas!

We went to the Midnight service at our church Christmas Eve.
We didn't expect them to be up so early.
We invited their Aunt's, and Uncle, as well as Grandparents at eight thinking they would sleep in.

They were impatient to open up the gifts under the tree..
They are only allowed to play with the things Santa bring until the family gets there.

Thanksgiving and Kaya's Fifth Birthday

Little miss Kaya turned five on Thanksgiving this year.
She asked for a DS.
We had to sit her down and let her know that if that is what she really wanted it was all she was going to get from us this year.

She said she understood..........
Much to our relief, she did.
But much thanks to Amazon and their refurbished electronics department, we were able to get her two games and a purse carrying case for the price of a new DS.

With all our plans for the day I made a big breakfast before, Flag Football with the Titan's team, visiting with my family for a while at my parents house, and then on to diner with my in-laws like every year.

Kaya this early this year had asked for a Strawberry Shortcake cake.....Remembering I had one as a kid, I asked my Mom if she might still have it laying around.
Sure enough she did.

After working on her cake Wednesday, I need to find more detailed pics.
So, I went to my old photo album, and there was the old pic I was after.
I also noticed that it was also my fifth birthday. Funny!

Wrestling 2011-12

Dylen is wrestling again this season.
He received his first gold medal during his first tournament of the season at Clearfield.
His friend Dayton has been participating also and they are just loving it, and at our last one we found out he has another friend participating in another club.

At his second tournament, Layton, he received sliver.

In his latest tournament he received his first bronze for third place.
Weber High does not put them in groups of abilities.
They are put together according to age and weight only.
No complaints, he learned a lot that day.
And I believe it's also a good lesson in learning that to be the best you have to practice and work hard.
Not only that, there is always someone out there better than you.

We got to take a break for the holiday, but we get right back to it Monday.

Headed Into November.......Already!?!

Wow, I actually have time to sit down and blog for a few minutes.
With the football season over, I have had time to finally finish cleaning the basement.
The kids have cleaned their rooms, and the bathrooms, the main floor of the house is almost clean.
Now, to finish the knee high laundry pile and get it all put away.

The boys game against South Ogden went great!
They won 27-6.

Later in the week we scrimmaged against the other team we did not play against in the regular season.
Even though the final week of practice was the worst whether wise we have had all season, the kids worked hard to prepare for the October Fest games.

In the first game at October Fest we played a team from our pre-season that had mopped the floor with us!
We bet them 6-0.
The other team complimented us on the hard work the boys had put in, and agreed they weren't the same team they played in the pre-season.
The field was nice and muddy to start the day out!

In our second game that day we lost 7-6.
The boys were so upset, I think at the loss against Layton and at the loss of many great friendships made over the last ten weeks.
For a large part, they were all great friends.
 All thirty of them!

The Titan's had a Banquet the fallowing week.
A good chance to say good bye and give gifts and such.

"We are the Titan's" song one last time this season

I have really enjoyed the last few months.
I was just as sad as the coaches and kids at the end......
I will miss the kids!!
